The State Ferry runs regularly between Seward, Whittier and Valdez.

THE TRANS ALASKA PIPELINE
On your way to or from Valdez stop in at one of
the two locations where you can view the Pipe Line up close.
The best location to see the Pipe Line is south of Glenallen
on the Richardson Highway a few miles toward Valdez.
SPENCER GLACIER WHISTLE STOP TOUR
Portage to Spencer Glacier and back for $64.

RIDE THE HIPPY TRAIN
The Alaska Railroad runs a self-powered rail car from Talkeetna to
Chulitna and back in the summer months. Excellent scenery and

TURNAGAIN ARM BORE TIDES
The Bore Tides are right for viewing between June 17 & June 23.
The best location to view the Bore Tide is along the Seward Highway between

GHOST TOURS OF ANCHORAGE

THE ANCHORAGE MARKET

THE HATCHERY ON SHIP CREEK
Open Monday thru Friday 8AM to 4:30PM. Located by the gate
to Elmendorf AFB off Reeve Blvd. You will need a valid driver's licence and

THE ULU FACTORY
Tour the Ulu Factory. Ride the Trolley to the Ulu
Factory from downtown for free. Open 8AM to 5PM daily.

THE WHITTIER TUNNEL
Drive through the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel to Whittier.
At 2 ½ miles long, it is the longest Highway Tunnel in North America
and it is open to vehicles. There is a small fee per vehicle to enter
from the Portage side.
MCHUGH CREEK
You know where it is at. There are trails to hike (bring bear spray)
and fire pits to use.
A great view up Turnagain Arm can be had from there.
THUNDERBIRD FALLS
Just head up the Highway toward Eklutna and follow the road signs.
The trail has been improved a lot over the years.
HATCHER PASS
Drive up to and through Hatcher Pass. Turn onto Wasilla Fish Hook Road
from the Parks Highway and follow it through to Willow. Great scenery and
there are several places to dine up there.
THE ALASKA WILDLIFE CONSERVATION CENTER
See Bears, Bison, Moose, Musk Ox and more. Mile 79, Seward Highway,
near Portage. Open 8AM to 8PM daily. $30 per car or $10 for

ALASKA NATIVE HERITAGE CENTER
Open 9AM to 5PM daily. Lots of exhibits, song and dance

An annual foot race along the Anchorage Trail System.

Located on Lake Hood on the way to the Airport.

EAGLE RIVER NATURE CENTER
Located at 32750 Eagle River Road, run by a local non-profit group. Has displays,
events, goodies to buy, and hiking trails to stretch your legs. $5 fee for parking,
but admission is free. Open Wed-Sun, 10AM-5PM.
4TH ANNUAL MT. VIEW STREET FAIR
Located at Clark Middle School, this free event will have live music, games, rock wall, Bird TLC activities, food,
and it's a free day at the Alaska Museum of Natural History. If you haven't been to Anchorage in a
while, you won't recognize the old Clark Jr. High - it's been completely renovated.
The Street Fair is from Noon - 4 p.m., Saturday, June 23rd.
